KinderLab Robotics opens new headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts

Waltham, MA – February 17, 2015 – KinderLab Robotics, a creator of toys and educational tools that teach four to seven year-olds to program and understand logic, has moved to new office space and manufacturing headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts.

The offices and manufacturing space is close to the historic technology hub of Route 128 and is part of the company’s growth plans as it looks to hire new employees and increase manufacturing capacity.

“The importance of teaching children to understand logic and to be in charge of technology is creating a huge demand,” said Mitch Rosenberg, CEO and co-founder of KinderLab Robotics.  “This demand for KIBO has allowed us to move to the next stage of growth – and to move into larger manufacturing premises in Waltham. We’ve experienced a whirlwind of orders from schools, teachers, parents, after-school programs, and camps since the close of our successful crowdfunding campaign last summer and the most recent holiday season. We look forward to what 2015 will bring.”

Rosenberg continued: “We can’t wait to increase production in our new workspace, while continuing to grow our team. We feel that bringing technology education to young children in a tangible, age-appropriate way is vital. We’re delighted to see so many educators and parents feel the same way, and we will work hard to support them and fulfill our mission.”

KIBO is a programming robot kit designed after more than fifteen years of research in child development technology at Tufts University. KIBO appropriately develops cognitive, social, emotional and motor skills through its familiar wooden blocks, which encourage open-ended play, and its customizable platform, which combines technology with expressive arts and other relevant curriculum.

About KinderLab Robotics Inc.
KinderLab Robotics creates toys and educational tools that enable young children to learn critical technical, problem- solving, and cognitive skills in a developmentally appropriate and playful way. While STEM education products exist for middle- and high-school students, KinderLab uniquely fills a need for a critical population: children under the age of seven. KinderLab products are based on over 15 years of academic and field research into how young children learn foundational concepts in programming and engineering by integrating them into a multidisciplinary curriculum that includes literacy, the expressive arts and cultural studies. KinderLab Robotics is headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts. It was founded by Marina Umaschi Bers and Mitch Rosenberg in May 2013. The first KIBO prototype, KIWI, was created in the DevTech labs of Tufts University in 2008.
