Webinar – Teach K-5 Students How AI Works with Unplugged and Robotics Activities

October 28 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Teach K-5 Students How AI Works Webinar Image

Discover how to successfully introduce complex artificial intelligence concepts to young learners, empowering them to see themselves as creators of these technologies rather than just consumers!

Join us for a webinar featuring a panel of educators who will share their experiences teaching K-5 students about AI through hands-on robotics and fun, unplugged activities.

We will delve into what exactly is AI, how it works and how to bring these concepts to your young learners. Just like with other STEM and computer science topics, early childhood is the ideal time to build a foundational understanding of AI concepts.

Through developmentally appropriate unplugged and robotics activities—including the screen-free KIBO robot—elementary-aged students can grasp the fundamentals of AI. With the lessons, activities, and ideas provided, you too can easily bring AI education to your students, in your classroom, after school, makerspace, and beyond.

In this webinar, we’ll:

  • Share real-world examples of teaching AI to K-5 students
  • Demonstrate how to meet computer science standards through AI education
  • Provide resources, lesson plans, and activities that you can implement right away

Begin teaching your students about AI, even if you don’t consider yourself an expert!

Panelists include:
  • Vicky Sedgwick, Former K-2 Grade Band Lead, AI for K12 Initiative, and President, CSTA Greater Los Angeles Chapter;
  • Erin Asamoto, Assistant Principal, Scotts Valley Unified School District (CA), and Monterey Bay CUE
  • Katy Scowcroft, Second-Grade Teacher, Santa Cruz City Schools (CA)
  • Jason Innes, Director of Curriculum, Training, and Product Management, KinderLab Robotics (Moderator)
